QUICK EVENT RECAP (you know I love posting pictures... not so much writing)
The 2019 Alt Summit was a great time! It was an amazing chance to soak up some much needed California sun and create (what I hope to be) sustainable business relationships.
This was my first year attending Alt. In years past, the $1500 registration price point was a bit too rich for my blood; so I was VERY excited when I saw the event volunteer email in my inbox. Event volunteers are allowed a waived registration fee in exchange for two days of service. Pretty cool deal in my opinion!
The first of my two volunteers days was spent helping set up for the welcome disco party and gifting event. The second day I assisted with sessions at the ACE hotel and painted letters for the Joanne Fabric craft area (I must say, my event volunteer homie and I did a great job painting those letters).
A FEW MORE DETAILS
Four participating hotels
The Riviera (host hotel)
The Saguaro (we all had a tough time pronouncing the name lol)
The Ace Hotel
The Parker (one of my goals is to stay here lol)
Beautiful backdrops and sponsored areas.
The event app allowed many of us to network leading up to, throughout, and after the event. Also a great way to keep track of the sessions and meetups.
Met some AWESOME girls and shared MANY laughs.
Made a few VALUABLE business connections
Unreliable shuttle service (we had to catch Ubers in order to make back-to-back sessions that were being offered at different hotels).
Vendors ran out of materials at the gifting party.
The marketplace only lasted two days.
Alaskan Airlines left the event early.
The Lunch schedule was hard to navigate.
Sponsored dinners were invite only (we’re not sure how people were chosen/placed on the invite list). Seemed like a popularity contest.
Would I attend again? Yes, I certainly would. Sometimes it’s about content and programming AND sometimes it’s about the experience. I wouldn’t necessarily say I gained much from content/programming this time around. I was able to hang with my girls, eat some yummy food, breathe in some fresh air, dip my feet in the pool, laugh, joke, smile, leave my work behind. And for that it’s worth it!
